Medical aesthetics FAQ What you may be wondering
The questions we hear most about consultations, appointments and treatments. If yours is not here, write to us.
General questions
At the first visit we listen to your expectations and assess your skin, facial anatomy and general health. We talk about the medicines you use, past treatments and your lifestyle. We then share openly which options suit you — and sometimes which do not — and decide together.
In Dr. Fulya Koç’s approach the aim is to look more rested and healthy while keeping your own expression. Dose, product and treatment area are planned individually, and doing less is preferred when appropriate. Results vary from person to person.
With most injection-based treatments, short-lived redness, mild swelling or bruising may occur, and daily life can usually be resumed the same day. Specific aftercare advice for each treatment is explained in detail at your consultation.
There is no set starting age; the decision is based on what your skin needs rather than your age. In your twenties, steps that support skin quality and care are often enough, while in later years the plan may widen according to your facial structure. An examination and assessment always come first.
How long results last depends on the type of treatment, the product used, your skin and your lifestyle. Some treatments last a few months, others longer. That is why a personalised, regularly followed plan is recommended rather than one-off procedures.
Most medical aesthetic treatments are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. A consultation can be planned for safe care advice that supports skin health during this period.
Fees depend on the personalised plan decided after your consultation, the product used and the number of sessions. For information, you can contact us by phone or WhatsApp.
Use the “Book an appointment” button on the site to leave your name and phone number; we will call you to plan a suitable day. You can also message us on WhatsApp, call us or use the online booking system. The clinic is in Ataşehir and visits are by appointment.
Skin Rejuvenation Injections & Regenerative Treatments
Fillers are used to add volume to a specific area or to define contours. Skin rejuvenation injections and regenerative treatments, on the other hand, focus less on adding volume and more on supporting the skin’s moisture balance, elasticity and own collagen production. For this reason, results usually appear gradually and show up in skin quality rather than in a change of facial contours.
Skin-banking is an approach that strengthens skin quality with preventive and supportive steps before obvious signs of aging appear. There is no single right age to start; the condition of your skin, genetic predisposition, sun exposure and lifestyle are considered together. For some people, a good skincare routine and sun protection may be enough at this stage.
Because regenerative treatments rely on the skin’s own biological processes, change is usually noticed within a few weeks, as sessions progress. How long the effect lasts varies from person to person depending on the type of treatment, age, skin type and lifestyle. For this reason, most plans include maintenance sessions at certain intervals.
Some methods can be included in the same plan so that they complement each other, for example regenerative products applied together with microneedling. However, not every combination is suitable for everyone. Which treatments will be done, in what order and at what intervals is planned individually after an examination.

Botox (Botulinum Toxin) Treatments
Botox temporarily relaxes muscles, so it works on lines caused by facial expressions. Fillers use a substance such as hyaluronic acid to replace lost volume or support. They address different concerns and, if appropriate after your consultation, can be planned together.
For expression lines the effect usually lasts 3–6 months, for the jaw muscle 4–6 months, and for sweating it often lasts longer. Duration varies with the area treated, the dose, muscle strength and the person’s metabolism.
No. As the effect wears off, the muscles gradually regain their previous movement and your face returns to how it looked before treatment. Natural aging continues during this time, but stopping Botox does not speed up wrinkles.
Tell your doctor about the medications, supplements and chronic conditions you have. Treatment is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you have an important event coming up, it is recommended to schedule your treatment at least two weeks ahead so the effect can settle and any bruising can fade.
Dermal Filler Treatments
Hyaluronic acid fillers are not permanent; the body breaks them down over time. The duration depends on the area, the density of the filler used and the person’s metabolism. In the lips it is usually 6–12 months, and in less mobile areas such as the cheeks and chin it is 12–18 months and may sometimes last longer.
Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This is important both for correcting an unwanted appearance and in rare emergencies such as a blocked blood vessel.
Fillers directly replace lost volume, and the effect is visible right after the treatment. Biostimulator treatments, often called youth boosters, support the skin’s own collagen production; their effects appear more slowly and gradually. After an examination, one or both can be planned depending on your needs.
Common effects are swelling, bruising and tenderness, which usually pass within a few days. A rare but serious risk is the filler entering or pressing on a blood vessel. For this reason, a technique suited to the anatomy is used, the treatment is performed slowly and in small amounts, and hyaluronidase is always kept on hand.
Thread Lift and Non-Surgical Facelift
No, it does not give the same result. Methods such as thread lifts, HIFU and the liquid facelift may help tissue tightening and support skin quality in mild to moderate sagging. In cases of advanced sagging and marked excess skin, surgical options may be more appropriate; this distinction is made during the consultation.
The two methods serve different purposes. A thread lift aims to support and reposition tissue mechanically, while HIFU targets tightening and collagen renewal in the deeper layers through a heating effect. Depending on the degree of sagging, your skin thickness and your expectations, one of them, both together, or a different approach may be recommended.
It varies depending on the method used, the type of thread, your skin structure and your lifestyle. Dissolvable threads are gradually absorbed by the body, and the effects of fillers and HIFU also fade over time. For this reason, results are not permanent, and repeat treatment is planned at certain intervals if needed.
Most people return to daily life within a short time. Because swelling, bruising and a feeling of tightness may occur for a few days after thread procedures, it is helpful to leave a few days of margin before an important event.
Skin Rejuvenation and Laser
Your skin type, main concern (pores, spots, fine lines, scars, dullness), skin sensitivity, the season and how soon you want to return to your social life are all considered together. After the examination, a personalized plan is suggested, which may involve a single method or a few complementary treatments.
For laser and deeper-acting treatments, autumn and winter, when sunlight is less intense, are usually preferred. Medical skin care and some lighter treatments can be done year-round with appropriate sun protection.
Yes. When planned at suitable intervals, different methods can complement each other. For example, microneedling can support skin quality while a laser or peel may be added for uneven tone. The order and spacing of sessions are determined by how quickly your skin recovers.
Skin that is renewing itself is more sensitive to the sun, and the risk of developing dark spots increases if it is not protected. Using a broad-spectrum, high-SPF sunscreen and reapplying it during the day also helps maintain the results.
Pigmentation, Acne and Scar Treatments
Because skin renewal and collagen production take time, changes are usually noticed gradually over weeks and months. The length of treatment depends on the type and depth of the problem and on the method chosen.
Autumn and winter are usually preferred for procedures such as laser and deep peels. Medical acne treatment, home care and some gentle procedures can continue year-round with appropriate sun protection.
In many cases a noticeable improvement can be achieved, but it would not be accurate to say that scars and some spots will disappear completely. The aim is to reduce their appearance and improve the overall quality of the skin. Some types of pigmentation, such as melasma, may come back.
Not always. However, in situations such as persistent acne, rapidly increasing spots or under-eye dark circles, checking hormone, iron, vitamin and thyroid levels may help guide treatment.
Hair Treatments
Losing about 50–100 hairs a day is considered normal as a natural part of the hair cycle. If you notice that shedding has clearly increased, your hair is thinning or your scalp is becoming visible, an evaluation is recommended.
Depending on your complaint, a complete blood count, ferritin, B12, vitamin D, zinc and thyroid function tests are commonly requested. In women, hormone tests may also be considered if there are irregular periods, acne or increased body hair.
Because the hair growth cycle is long, a reduction in shedding is usually noticed within 1–3 months, while new hair growth and changes in density start to become noticeable within 3–6 months. The response varies with the cause of the hair loss and from person to person.
Shedding caused by temporary factors, such as iron deficiency or stress, can improve substantially once the cause is resolved. Genetic hair loss, on the other hand, is a progressive condition; the aim of treatment is to slow its progression and protect the existing hair.
Localized Body Contouring
No. Localized slimming treatments are designed to shape local fat pockets, not to cause a noticeable change on the scale. For people who want to lose weight, the priorities are eating habits, physical activity and, when needed, a medical evaluation.
The fat cells affected by the treatment are generally considered not to regenerate. However, the fat cells that remain in the area and elsewhere in the body can enlarge with weight gain. For this reason, maintaining the result depends largely on lifestyle.
It may be considered for small to medium-sized pockets of local fat such as under the chin, around the abdomen, the flanks, the inner thighs, the inner knees and the back of the arms. Suitability is determined during the examination by assessing the thickness of the fat tissue and the elasticity of the skin.
Holistic Approach
No. The practices in this category are supportive and complementary. You should not stop or change the medications you take or the treatment recommended by your specialist on your own.
It involves evaluating your general health, sleep, nutrition, stress and activity patterns together with your skin and hair findings. Referral to the relevant specialist when needed is also part of this approach.
The effect of lifestyle factors on general health is well established. For traditional and complementary methods such as hijama (wet cupping), however, the scientific evidence is limited; this is shared openly during the consultation.
