Hair Treatments

A personalized approach to hair health that investigates the causes of hair loss, thinning, and sparse beard or eyebrows.

Hair Treatments

Hair loss and thinning are not only a cosmetic concern; they are often an outward sign of an imbalance in the body. For this reason, the first step in hair treatment is to identify the cause of the shedding correctly. Iron and ferritin deficiency, vitamin deficiencies such as B12 and vitamin D, thyroid disease, hormonal changes, intense stress, childbirth and past illnesses, and androgenetic hair loss related to genetic predisposition are the most common causes.

This category includes hair loss treatment, hair mesotherapy and hair PRP, exosome-based treatments, and treatment for sparse beard and eyebrows. After an examination and any necessary blood tests, treatment is planned by combining correction of deficiencies, medical therapies and scalp treatments according to each person.

At her clinic in Ataşehir, Dr. Fulya Koç evaluates concerns such as hair loss, baldness, and hair or beard that does not grow by looking at the body and lifestyle as a whole. Because the hair cycle is long, results appear over months and vary from person to person.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about Hair Treatments

Losing about 50–100 hairs a day is considered normal as a natural part of the hair cycle. If you notice that shedding has clearly increased, your hair is thinning or your scalp is becoming visible, an evaluation is recommended.

Depending on your complaint, a complete blood count, ferritin, B12, vitamin D, zinc and thyroid function tests are commonly requested. In women, hormone tests may also be considered if there are irregular periods, acne or increased body hair.

Because the hair growth cycle is long, a reduction in shedding is usually noticed within 1–3 months, while new hair growth and changes in density start to become noticeable within 3–6 months. The response varies with the cause of the hair loss and from person to person.

Shedding caused by temporary factors, such as iron deficiency or stress, can improve substantially once the cause is resolved. Genetic hair loss, on the other hand, is a progressive condition; the aim of treatment is to slow its progression and protect the existing hair.
