What Is Facial Mesotherapy?
Facial mesotherapy is a method in which the ingredients your skin needs are applied in small amounts, with very fine needles, directly into the middle layer of the skin (the dermis). The mixtures used may contain substances that play a role in the skin’s structure and metabolism, such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids, minerals and antioxidants.
Also known as skin mesotherapy, the aim of this treatment is to support layers that are hard to reach with creams, in order to improve the skin’s moisture balance, radiance and overall appearance. It does not change facial contours; instead of adding volume, it focuses on skin quality.
Mesotherapy is a technique that is used not only on the face but also, with different formulations, in other areas such as hair loss and localized thinning; the information on this page covers treatment for the face and skin quality. Which ingredients are used depends on whether your skin is dry, oily, sensitive or prone to pigmentation. In other words, not every mesotherapy mixture is the same.
Who Is It Suitable For?
- People whose skin looks dull, tired or dehydrated
- Those who are looking for a preventive approach as fine lines are just beginning to appear
- Skin that has lost its freshness because of sun, stress, seasonal changes or irregular sleep
- Those who prefer a light treatment that supports skin quality over more extensive procedures
- Those who want to support skin quality on the neck and décolleté
In cases of marked sagging, deep wrinkles or volume loss, mesotherapy alone may not be enough; in this case it is considered together with other methods.
How Is the Treatment Done?
- At the consultation, your skin type, expectations and medical history are assessed, and the formulation that suits your needs is chosen.
- The skin is cleansed and prepared with an antiseptic solution. Numbing cream may be applied for comfort.
- The mixture is delivered as superficial microinjections with very fine needles or a special applicator.
- At the end of the procedure, the skin is soothed with a calming product and aftercare recommendations are explained to you.
Depending on the size of the area, the procedure usually takes 20–30 minutes. You may feel a mild stinging sensation during the treatment; numbing cream helps reduce this feeling.
What to Pay Attention to Afterward
- It is recommended that you avoid makeup and touching your face for the first 12–24 hours.
- It is advisable to avoid saunas, steam baths, intense exercise and swimming pools on the first day.
- For a few days, you may pause peels, acid-containing products and retinoids.
- Using sunscreen regularly helps maintain your results.
- For a few days after the procedure, it is enough to support your skin with a gentle cleanser and moisturizer.
Possible Side Effects and Who Should Not Have It
After the procedure, mild redness, small bumps, swelling or bruising may appear at the injection points; these usually go away on their own within a few hours to a few days. Rarely, an allergic reaction to an ingredient or an infection may develop.
Mesotherapy is not performed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, if there is an active infection, herpes or an open wound in the treatment area, in cases of known allergy to the ingredients, or in bleeding disorders. If you use blood-thinning medication or have a chronic condition, you should be sure to mention it at the consultation.
If you notice signs that suggest infection, such as increasing pain, warmth, marked swelling or discharge, you should contact your physician without delay.
Dr. Fulya Koç’s Approach
For Dr. Fulya Koç, facial mesotherapy is a measured step aimed at supporting the skin’s own balance. At the Ataşehir clinic, the number of sessions and the formulation are determined by your skin’s needs at that moment; proceeding with fewer procedures when more are not needed is part of the plan.
Mesotherapy makes the most sense when it is considered together with sun protection, regular skincare and healthy lifestyle habits. The aim is to support a more rested and healthy appearance without changing your expression.
Between sessions, how your skin responds is monitored and the plan is updated if necessary. In this way, the treatment becomes a process that takes shape with your skin rather than a fixed package.

Frequently asked questions
A course of 3–5 sessions, 2–3 weeks apart, is usually planned. Afterward, a maintenance session every few months may be recommended depending on the condition of the skin. The number of sessions varies from person to person depending on skin type and expectations.
It is recommended not to wear makeup for the first 12–24 hours so that the injection points can close. After that, you can wear makeup using clean brushes and products that do not irritate the skin.
In mesotherapy, a specific formulation is delivered to the skin with microinjections. In dermapen treatment, on the other hand, microneedling creates controlled micro-channels in the skin and stimulates the skin’s own repair process. In some cases the two methods can also be planned together.
Mesotherapy can be done at any time of year. In the summer months, more care is needed for sun protection after the procedure; for this reason some people prefer autumn and winter.
