What Is Regenera Activa?
Regenera Activa is a treatment based on an autologous micrograft technique. “Autologous” means that the material used comes from the person’s own body. In this method, a few millimeter-sized tissue samples are taken from the scalp, usually from behind the ear.
The samples are mechanically broken down in a special device and filtered into a suspension. This suspension is thought to contain progenitor cells and growth factors that play a role in tissue renewal. The prepared mixture is applied in the same session to areas with hair loss or to skin areas where renewal is intended. In addition to hair loss, the method can also be used for skin concerns such as acne scars and other scars.
Although the published studies on the method are promising, most are small in scale; long-term and large-scale data are still limited.
Who Is It Suitable For?
- Women and men with early and middle-stage androgenetic (genetic) hair loss
- People who notice thinning and sparseness of the hair strands
- Those looking for skin renewal support for acne scars or other scars
- Those who prefer a method prepared from their own tissue
Creating new hair in completely bald areas where the hair follicle has been entirely lost is not the aim of this method.
How Is the Treatment Done?
- At the consultation, the cause of the hair loss or skin concern is assessed; blood tests are requested if considered necessary.
- Local anesthesia is applied to the area from which the tissue sample will be taken.
- A few small, millimeter-sized tissue samples are taken, usually from behind the ear.
- The samples are processed in a special device to prepare a suspension from the person’s own tissue.
- The prepared mixture is applied to the target area with fine needles in the same session.
Sampling, preparation and application are completed in the same session; the procedure usually takes 45–60 minutes. After a short rest, you can return to your daily life.
What to Pay Attention to Afterward
- Follow the instructions you are given for caring for the sampling site and keep the area clean.
- For a hair treatment, you may be asked to postpone washing your hair for as long as your physician recommends.
- Avoid intense exercise, saunas, steam baths and swimming pools in the first few days.
- Because results appear over time, attending follow-up visits is important for assessment.
- It is important to continue the other treatments recommended for hair loss unless your physician says otherwise.
Possible Side Effects and Who Should Not Have It
Redness, tenderness and mild swelling may be seen in the treatment area. A small mark may remain at the sampling point; this is mostly not noticeable among the hair. Rarely, infection, bleeding or a reaction to the local anesthetic may develop.
It is not performed if there is an active infection or skin disease in the treatment area, in bleeding disorders, in the presence of active cancer, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or in case of allergy to local anesthetics. The use of blood thinners and a tendency toward keloids are assessed at the consultation.
If you notice increasing pain, redness, discharge or bleeding that does not stop at the sampling site, you should contact your physician.
Dr. Fulya Koç’s Approach
As a method that aims to support renewal by using the body’s own resources, Regenera Activa is in line with Dr. Fulya Koç’s regenerative outlook. However, in hair loss the first step is always to understand the cause; nutrition, hormones, stress and general health are considered together.
At the Ataşehir clinic, this treatment is recommended for suitable candidates and within realistic expectations. It is openly shared that results vary from person to person and that this is a developing field.
When needed, Regenera Activa may be considered as part of a plan together with other approaches such as medical treatments, nutritional adjustments or PRP.

Frequently asked questions
No. In a hair transplant, hair follicles are taken from one area and placed in another. In Regenera Activa, a suspension prepared from the person’s own tissue is applied to the scalp to support the existing hair follicles.
In hair treatments, change is usually assessed within 3–6 months. Results vary from person to person depending on the stage of hair loss, age and general health.
Although it is colloquially referred to as a stem cell treatment, the method is based on a suspension prepared mechanically from the person’s own tissue that is thought to contain progenitor cells and growth factors. No cell multiplication is done in a laboratory.
It is mostly planned as a single session. Depending on the results and the course of the hair loss, reassessment may be made at a later stage.
