What Is a Skin Rejuvenation Injection?

“Skin rejuvenation injection” (known in Turkey as a “youth vaccine”) is a colloquial term for biorevitalization injections intended to improve skin quality. These treatments mostly use hyaluronic acid that is not cross-linked, meaning it does not create volume the way a filler does; some products may also contain amino acids, antioxidants or other supportive ingredients.

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule found naturally in the skin that has a high capacity to hold water. The aim of this method, also referred to as a skin booster, is to support deep hydration of the skin and, over time, to help it take on a more elastic, plump and radiant appearance.

Unlike fillers, the product is not applied to create volume at a specific point; it is distributed widely through the skin to support its overall quality. For this reason, no change in facial contours is expected; the change is noticed more in the skin’s texture, its sense of hydration and the way it reflects light.

In these treatments, which go by different names such as skin rejuvenation injection, skin booster or biorevitalization, the product is chosen according to the thickness of the skin, the treatment area and the intended effect. For this reason, two people’s plans may differ from each other.

Who Is It Suitable For?

  • Those who feel dryness, thinning and loss of elasticity in their skin
  • People whose fine lines and uneven skin texture have become more noticeable
  • Those who want to support skin quality without changing facial contours
  • Those who want to improve skin quality on the neck, décolleté and back of the hands
  • Those who want to build a preventive, long-term skincare plan

A skin rejuvenation injection is not intended to resolve marked sagging or deep wrinkles on its own; in such cases a plan can be created together with other methods.

How Is the Treatment Done?

  1. At the consultation, your skin’s hydration, elasticity and needs are assessed, and a suitable product and technique are selected.
  2. The skin is cleansed, prepared with an antiseptic, and numbing cream may be applied.
  3. The product is applied in small amounts to the chosen points with a fine needle or a cannula.
  4. After the procedure the area is soothed, and what you need to watch for in the first few days is explained.

Small bumps at the injection points usually disappear within a day or two. It is recommended to allow a few days before an important event.

What to Pay Attention to Afterward

  • It is recommended that you do not press on or massage the small bumps at the injection points.
  • It is advisable to avoid makeup, saunas, steam baths and intense exercise for the first 24 hours.
  • For a few days, take care not to sleep face down or put pressure on the area.
  • Drinking plenty of water and using sunscreen regularly benefit the skin.
  • Sleeping with your head slightly elevated the first night after the treatment may help reduce swelling.

Possible Side Effects and Who Should Not Have It

Small blisters, redness, mild swelling and bruising may appear at the injection points; these usually go away within a few days. Rarely, an infection, an allergic reaction or small areas of firmness in the skin may develop; if this happens, you should contact your physician.

The treatment is not performed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, if there is an active infection or cold sore in the treatment area, if you are allergic to an ingredient in the product, or during the active phase of certain autoimmune diseases. It is important to share the medications you take at the consultation.

If you notice increasing pain, color change or unexpected swelling in the treatment area, it is important to contact your physician right away.

Dr. Fulya Koç’s Approach

The skin rejuvenation injection is a treatment that fits Dr. Fulya Koç’s philosophy of “aging later, not just looking younger.” The aim is not to change the face but to maintain and strengthen the skin’s own quality over time.

At the Ataşehir clinic, planning takes into account your skin’s needs in the future as well as its condition today. This approach can be seen as a kind of skin-banking: investing in your skin from today with measured, regular and personalized steps.

Session intervals and maintenance treatments are determined by monitoring how your skin responds. In this way, a process is built that moves forward according to need, without doing more than is necessary.

Frequently asked questions

No. Hyaluronic acid can be used in both, but fillers use cross-linked products that add volume. In a skin rejuvenation injection, the aim is not volume but to support the skin’s hydration and quality.

The duration of the effect varies from person to person depending on the product used, age and skin type. After the initial course, 1–2 maintenance sessions per year can usually be planned.

There is no specific age limit; the decision is made according to the skin’s needs. It may be considered at an early age for preventive purposes, but it may not be necessary for everyone.

The information on this page is general. Whether the treatment suits you, its possible risks and the results you can expect are assessed individually at your consultation. Results vary from person to person. Image is illustrative.
